Activity Two_1:Translation & Information Retrieval

 

Deadline is Monday October31st2011 for all classes.

Questions:

  • What does translation mean?
  • What are the advantages of translation?
  • What are the drawbacksand dangers of translation?

Take examples of badly done translation & well done one & see how to achieve an understandable translation.

Discussions are to be undertaken with students (oral production) within class sessions & scored. (Assignment #2)

 

Activity Two_2:Semantic Web (web2.0, web3.0) http://infomesh.net/2001/swintro/

 

The semantic web has given birth to many new concepts.  It’s good to know about some of them. The concepts also invoke languages that semantic web uses for services.

Productions are to be sent in “Word” & “Ppt” Formats.

 

Examples from last year (2010-2011): Folksonomy (my exposé), Humanware, e-Commerce, e-Business, e-Learning, e-Government, social networking (Facebook, Twitter, Viadeo, LinkedIn, etc.).

 

ActivityThree:  Make a Presentation on a chosen topic with a chosen partner

 

Deadline is January 03rd2012.

 

1.      Students should work collaboratively (02 persons);

2.      Students should choose the topic they want to deal with;

3.      Students must send a written document under PDF or DOC formats;

4.      Students must then send their PPT presentations (one week later);

5.      A draw to make an incremental list will be set in presence of students in their own groups to decide the order in which presentations will be led.

 

Discussions are to be undertaken with students (oral production) within class sessions & scored as Assignment #3.

 

It is advised that students may think of a partner & a topic at the very beginning of the academic year (October 2011).

 

Deadline dates are not definite. They may change according to task progress.
